One small prompt
A single daily line removes the pressure to fill a page.
Grain / YUZOOL APP GUIDE
Grain is a one-sentence journal app for iPhone. Write one small memory each day and return to the same date in years to come.
A single daily line removes the pressure to fill a page.
Past entries from this day can reappear as your years accumulate.
Browse the shape of a year without treating journaling as a score.
Connect entries around a person, place, project or chapter.
Keep an exportable copy of your writing as a personal keepsake.
Write on iPhone without a public feed or account setup.
A one-sentence journal is a useful middle ground between trying to remember everything and feeling that you need an hour to write. Grain gives the day a small landing place: one detail, one thought, one line that future-you can return to.
The aim is not to compress your whole life into a clever quote. It is to leave a truthful marker. “The train was late, but we found the tiny ramen shop” can become more evocative years later than a polished summary of the week. Write in ordinary language, do not edit it into a performance, and close the journal.
Grain brings earlier entries from the same calendar date back into view. A small note can change meaning with time: last year’s move, a familiar person who has since left, or a goal that no longer matters. Year views, memory threads and Grainbook export give a short daily note somewhere to go beyond a reverse-chronological list.
Attach writing to a moment that already happens, such as before charging your phone. On a busy night, record one fact instead of searching for an insight. Missing a date does not invalidate the archive; there is no streak to repair and no backlog to clear. Write when you remember, then continue.
