A pet vaccine tracker records each vaccine, the date it was given and when the next one is due. In PawKeep you add vaccines from your pet's certificate, the app shows upcoming and overdue ones on the home screen, and you can attach a photo of the certificate itself. When a boarding kennel, daycare or groomer asks for proof, the dates and the document are on your iPhone. Your vet decides which vaccines your pet needs and when.
What to record for each vaccine
- The vaccine name, as written on the certificate.
- The date given.
- The next due date. Your vet usually writes this on the certificate or reminder card.
- A photo of the certificate or record card. This is the proof third parties ask to see.
In PawKeep the vaccine entry holds the name and dates, and documents are stored as photos tagged as a vaccination record, lab result, vet letter or insurance paper. Enter a vaccine once and its next due date appears in the upcoming list, then moves to overdue if it passes.

Who asks for vaccine records, and what they usually want
| Who | Commonly asked for | How far ahead to check |
|---|---|---|
| Boarding kennels and catteries | Up-to-date core vaccines; for dogs often kennel cough as well | Several weeks. Some vaccines must be given a set time before the stay |
| Dog daycare and group training | Similar to boarding | Before the first day |
| Groomers | Varies; many ask for rabies where it is required by law | When you book |
| Travel abroad | Rabies vaccination, microchip, and official paperwork that depends on the countries involved | Months. Start with your vet and the official government guidance |
| A new vet or an emergency clinic | The whole history | Ideally always on hand |
Requirements differ by business and by country, so ask each one for its list. The point of a tracker is that whatever they ask for, you can answer immediately.
Puppies and kittens
Young animals have a series of vaccinations a few weeks apart, followed by boosters. It is the busiest period for records and the one where a missed appointment matters most. Add each dose as it is given, with the next date your vet tells you. The upcoming list then shows the remaining doses in order. Your vet sets the schedule; it varies with age, region and the products used.
Several pets, different schedules
With more than one animal, due dates stop lining up. One dog is due in March, the other in September, and the cat is on a different cycle. PawKeep's home screen lists overdue and upcoming care across all your pets, so you are looking at one list instead of three cards on the fridge. More than one pet needs PawKeep Family.
Showing proof
There are three ways to hand over the information:
- Show the document photo from the pet's record. This is usually what a kennel wants.
- Create a report. Choose vaccines and any documents to include and PawKeep makes a printable or shareable summary.
- Share the pet's record with a sitter or family member through iCloud, read-only, so they can check for themselves.
Some places insist on the original certificate or a copy sent by your vet. A photo is a good backup but check what they accept. For time away, the sitter handover sheet is a free printable.

Common questions
Which vaccines does my dog or cat need?
That is a question for your vet. It depends on age, lifestyle, local disease risk and the law where you live. PawKeep records what your vet gives and when the next is due.
Will it remind me when a vaccine is due?
Vaccines appear in the upcoming list and move to overdue once the date passes, so they are visible each time you open the app.
Is a photo of the certificate accepted as proof?
Often, but not always. Kennels, airlines and border officials set their own rules. Ask in advance and keep the original safe.
Can I track flea, tick and worming treatments too?
Yes. Preventive treatments are logged as medication with a schedule and reminders. See the medication reminder guide.
Is vaccine tracking free?
Yes, for your first pet, with unlimited records.
PawKeep keeps your records organized. It does not give veterinary advice. Always consult your veterinarian about your pet's health, vaccines and medication.
