Open a .sqlite or .db file, or drop in CSV and JSON files as tables, then browse them and run any SQL with SQLite itself, compiled to run inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded, so it’s safe for private data.
Drop a CSV file and it becomes a table named after the file: the first row gives the column names, and each column is typed INTEGER, REAL or TEXT from what’s in it, with empty cells as NULL. This is how the page reads a small file:
| Column | Type | Why |
|---|---|---|
id | INTEGER | whole numbers |
name | TEXT | words |
price | REAL | has a decimal point |
zip | TEXT | kept as text: 007 isn’t the number 7 |
Several files become several tables in one database, so you can JOIN them. JSON lists of objects work the same way, with nested fields flattened to names like address.city.
Click a table to see its first 100 rows and its columns; click a column to put its name in the query. A few queries worth knowing:
| SQL | Does |
|---|---|
SELECT name FROM sqlite_master WHERE type = 'table'; | list the tables |
PRAGMA table_info(orders); | the columns of a table |
SELECT city, count(*) FROM customers GROUP BY city ORDER BY 2 DESC; | how many of each |
SELECT email, count(*) FROM customers GROUP BY email HAVING count(*) > 1; | find duplicates |
SELECT * FROM orders WHERE placed >= date('now', '-30 days'); | the last 30 days |
INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE and CREATE work on the database in the page’s memory, never on your file. With Dev Tools Pro, Save database downloads the changed database as a .sqlite file, which also turns CSV files into a SQLite database. Pro also opens files over 50 MB and keeps your last five files to open again.
No. The file is read by SQLite running in your browser (sql.js, SQLite compiled to WebAssembly), so it never leaves your device. It works offline once the page and SQLite have loaded.
Up to 50 MB free, and up to 1 GB with Dev Tools Pro on a computer with the memory for it. The whole file is held in memory, so phones manage less.
SQLite’s: joins, subqueries, common table expressions (WITH), window functions, JSON functions and the date functions all work.
Not directly: those live on a server. Export a table as CSV and drop it here to query it with SQL.
Yes, with SQL (UPDATE, INSERT, DELETE). The changes stay in the page until you save the database, which needs Dev Tools Pro.
Open all 36 Dev Tools. Everything runs in your browser; nothing you paste is uploaded.
