About Side A
Side A is an album-first music player for your own files. Pick a folder of music and your albums appear on a shelf by cover art, ready to play start to finish the way they were sequenced.
Does Side A upload or stream my music?
No. Side A plays audio files that are already on your device. It reads tags and cover art locally; nothing is uploaded, and there is no account, feed or algorithm.
Which audio formats does it support?
It reads tags from MP3 (ID3), FLAC, M4A and Ogg files, and plays whatever audio your browser can decode, including Opus, WAV and AAC on most devices.
What is the listening diary?
Every time you play an album start to finish, Side A adds it to your diary. The Diary tab shows a 20-week listening calendar, your most finished albums and artists, and share cards for your top nine.
Will my library still be there after I reload?
Side A remembers your library and can reconnect to a chosen folder. Turn on Copy audio into this browser to keep the files available offline after a reload, at the cost of browser storage.
What playback features are there?
Album-order playback, shuffle by whole albums, playback speed, a sleep timer and lock-screen controls are free. Side A Pro adds an equaliser, crossfade, ReplayGain volume normalisation and synced lyrics from .lrc files.
Is Side A free?
Yes. The player, your library and the listening diary are free, with no ads and no account. Side A Pro is an optional one-time upgrade ($2.99) that adds the equaliser, crossfade, ReplayGain and synced lyrics.
