    PST and GMT explained

Pacific Time uses PST (UTC−8) as standard time and PDT (UTC−7) during daylight saving time, from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November; the clocks change at 2am local time. It covers the US west coast and British Columbia, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Las Vegas and Vancouver. People often say "PST" all year; during daylight saving time the US west coast is on PDT.

Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) is UTC+0, the reference time at the Greenwich meridian. GMT itself never changes. The UK uses GMT only in winter: from the last Sunday in March to the last Sunday in October it is on BST (UTC+1), so "GMT" and "UK time" are an hour apart in summer.

    The difference across the year

    GMT compared with PT:

PT changes its clocks and GMT doesn't, so the gap changes during the year. The converter above uses the rules for the date you pick.

    How to use the converter

Pick a time and date under From; the time in GMT appears under To, with your own local time underneath. The date matters around clock changes, so set it for the day you mean. ⇄ swaps the two zones, Now goes back to the current time, and either zone can be changed to any city. The planner below lines up the whole day in both places and in yours.
