GLP-1 Companion sends a "Shot day" notification on the weekday you choose, shows a countdown to the next shot in a Home Screen or Lock Screen widget, and follows each logged injection with a short symptom check-in two and three days later. You set the shot day once. The reminders repeat weekly and the widget updates when you log the shot.
The three reminders the app sends
| Reminder | When | What it says |
|---|---|---|
| Shot day | The morning of your chosen weekday, every week | Time for your weekly injection, with a nudge to rotate sites |
| Symptom check-in | Two days and three days after a logged shot | "How are you feeling?" A prompt to add a quick symptom note |
| Weekly check-in | The evening of your shot day | A pointer to the week's summary of shots, symptoms, meals and progress |
All three are standard iPhone notifications. You grant permission once, and you can switch notifications off in iOS Settings at any time without losing your records.

Setting your shot day
- During setup the app asks which medication you take and which day you inject. Pick the weekday on your prescription or the one you have settled into.
- Allow notifications when asked. Without that permission the app cannot remind you, though the Today screen still shows whether the week's shot is logged.
- Log each shot from the Shots screen. Logging is what moves the countdown on and schedules the two symptom check-ins.
If your prescriber moves your injection day, change the shot day in Settings. Whether and how to shift a weekly dose is a question for your leaflet or pharmacist, since the rules differ between medicines.
The Next Shot widget
A notification is easy to swipe away at the wrong moment. A widget stays put. The "Next shot" widget comes in five sizes:
- Small Home Screen widget: the countdown, the weekday and your dose.
- Medium Home Screen widget: the same, plus today's protein and water against your goals.
- Lock Screen circular, rectangular and inline widgets: days until the shot, "Go" on shot day, and a check mark once it is logged.
To add one, touch and hold an empty area of the Home Screen, tap the add button, and search for GLP-1 Companion. For the Lock Screen, touch and hold the Lock Screen and choose Customize. The widget reads the same on-device data as the app.
Why the symptom check-ins come on days two and three
Many people find the days just after an injection are when appetite and stomach changes are most noticeable, and those are also the days it is easiest to forget to write anything down. The two follow-up prompts exist to catch that window. Tapping one opens the app so you can tag symptoms from the list (nausea, fatigue, constipation, diarrhea, heartburn, headache, dizziness, injection-site reaction, sulfur burps) and set the food-noise slider.
You do not have to answer them. A day with nothing to report is useful information too, and the Journal simply shows that day without tags. The side-effect journal guide explains how those notes add up.
If you would rather use Apple's Reminders or Calendar
A repeating weekly event in Calendar or Reminders works for the injection itself. What it cannot do is confirm the shot was taken, show which site is next, or attach the dose to the date. Some people run both: a calendar event as a backstop and the tracker as the record. The injection-week planner is a printable alternative if you want the week on paper.

Common questions
Can I choose the time of the shot-day reminder?
The shot-day notification is sent in the morning of your chosen weekday. If you inject in the evening, the Lock Screen widget is a useful second prompt, because it stays visible until you log the shot.
Will it remind me if I have already logged the shot?
The Today screen and the widget both switch to a done state as soon as the shot is logged, so a late notification is easy to dismiss.
Does it work on Apple Watch?
Notifications from your iPhone mirror to Apple Watch if you have that turned on in the Watch app. There is no separate watch app.
What if I miss a dose?
The app shows the date of your last logged shot. What to do about a missed dose depends on the medicine; the rule is in your patient leaflet, and your pharmacist can confirm it.
Are reminders free?
Yes. Reminders, symptom check-ins and widgets are part of the free version.
