User agent parser

Your browser’s user agent is filled in: see which browser, engine, system and device it says you’re on. Paste any user agent from a log to read it.

Reading a user agent

User agents carry decades of history: nearly every one starts with Mozilla/5.0 and many mention Safari or Gecko even when they aren’t. This page looks for the parts that matter, in the right order (Edge before Chrome, Chrome before Safari).

User agent (shortened)Read as
… iPhone OS 17_4 … Version/17.4 … Safari/604.1Safari 17.4 on iOS 17.4, phone
… Windows NT 10.0 … Chrome/124 … Edg/124Edge 124 on Windows 10 or 11
… compatible; Googlebot/2.1 …Googlebot, a bot

How to use it

  1. Read yours, or paste one from a server log.
  2. See the browser, engine, system and device.

Questions

Can I rely on the version?

Less than before: browsers freeze parts of the string for privacy (Chrome reports Windows NT 10.0 for Windows 11). Use feature detection in code where you can.

Is my user agent sent anywhere?

Only to the sites you visit, as always; this page reads it in your browser.
