Kaomoji

Japanese text faces to copy with a tap. Free, and nothing leaves your device.

How kaomoji work

Kaomoji (顔文字, "face characters") are Japanese-style emoticons made from text characters and read the right way up: (◕‿◕), ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ and ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. The Kaomoji pack is free; Kaomoji: animals and moods is in Fancy Text Pro.

How to use it

  1. Choose Copy at the top to copy a face with one tap.
  2. Or keep Add to text to drop faces into the box next to your words, then copy the line from there.
  3. Paste it into a chat, comment, bio or caption.

Questions

What is the difference between kaomoji and emoji?

Emoji are single pictures your device draws. Kaomoji are made of several ordinary characters, so they match the text around them and work wherever text does.

Why does the shrug lose an arm on Discord?

Discord treats a backslash as an escape character, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ loses its left arm. Type /shrug instead, or add a second backslash: ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯.
