Ship Before You Name

February 13, 2026 4 Min Read Execution

Founders often spend weeks choosing names, colors, and slogans before proving any core loop. The result is polished uncertainty.

Shipping first gives you behavioral proof. Once people repeat the workflow, naming becomes easier because the product has earned a shape.

A simple sequence

  • Build one complete outcome from start to finish.
  • Watch what users do three times in a row.
  • Name the behavior, then name the product.

What to brand early

Brand only what helps distribution right now: a clear promise, a recognizable visual cue, and a practical domain. Save the full identity system for later.

Build cue: If your product had no logo, could someone still explain its value in ten seconds?

Reply prompt: What would you ship this week if naming was not allowed?
