cloak — ~/sidekick
v3.1 · macOS 26+

Press Space from anywhere. Ask anything. Answer comes back fast. Apple Intelligence, local Llama, Claude, OpenAI or Gemini — all behind one keystroke.

new in 3.1 The Agents panel dispatches Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI and Cursor Agent against a project folder — each in its own Terminal window, running in parallel, with a notification the moment each one finishes.

cloak --why

Built for the keyboard, not the mouse.

One keystroke.

⌘⇧Space from any app. No window-juggling, no tab-hunting. Esc puts it away.

Five brains.

Apple Intelligence (free, on-device), local Llama via MLX, Claude, OpenAI or Gemini with your own keys. Switch with /apple, /llama, /claude, /openai, /gemini.

Multi-agent dispatch.

The Agents panel (/agents) fires Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI and Cursor Agent at a project folder in parallel — each in its own Terminal window. Cloak watches and notifies you when each one's done.

Yours, yours.

On-device by default. Cloud only when you bring your own key. No telemetry. No accounts. Keys in macOS Keychain.

It looks the part.

Phosphor green, vintage amber, ice blue, paper white. Pick a theme that matches your terminal — or your mood.

The / palette.

Type / to swap providers, themes, or jump to settings without leaving the keyboard. Like Spotlight, for Cloak.

Fast by design.

Streams from token one. No loading spinners. No "thinking…" delays before the first character lands.

cloak --demo

Watch it work.

[Apple Intelligence] ────── cloak
cloak --agents new in 3.1

One panel. Four agents. Firing in parallel.

Pick a project folder, type a task, check off Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI and/or Cursor Agent — each launches in its own Terminal window. Cloak watches and notifies you the moment each one finishes.

Mocked animation of the real Agents panel — not a recording. Cursor uses its own account login, not a BYOK key; the rest use the same Anthropic / OpenAI / Google keys you already paste into Settings.

Five themes, one feel.

Drag or scroll horizontally · ⌘⇧Space summons whichever theme you've picked.

explain monads to me like I'm a junior dev
A monad is a wrapper with two operations: wrap a value and chain a function. It lets you sequence computations that carry context — error states, async, lists — without writing the boilerplate each time. Optional in Swift is one.
one-liner please
A monad lets you glue context-carrying computations together with a single .flatMap.

Honest take: Raycast AI is the deeper productivity suite. ChatGPT is the best general chat. Cloak is the smallest, fastest, most private of the three — for the 30-second questions you'd rather not type into a browser tab.

cloak --faq

Honest answers.

Does my data leave my Mac?

Not unless you choose a cloud provider (Claude/OpenAI) and send a message. Apple Intelligence and the local Llama run entirely on-device. Cloak makes no other network calls. No telemetry, no analytics, no "anonymous usage data." Ever.

What's BYOK?

Bring Your Own Key. You paste your Anthropic or OpenAI key into Cloak's Settings; it gets stored in the macOS Keychain (which is encrypted and only readable by Cloak itself). When you pick Claude or OpenAI as your provider, Cloak streams directly from their API using your key. You pay them, not me.

Why one-time pricing and not a subscription?

Because Cloak isn't a service — it's an app. The local providers cost you nothing to run. The cloud providers use your own keys. There's nothing on my side that needs to keep running. So pay once, own it.

What's the difference vs. ChatGPT, Claude, etc.?

Those are made for long, document-style conversations in a browser tab. Cloak is the opposite — a keystroke away, terminal-fast, ephemeral. Use it for the 30-second questions, the quick code recalls, the "what's the syntax for X again." When you want long-form, your subscription is still right there.

Why does the Llama download fail?

Almost always: no internet, or Hugging Face blocked by a corporate firewall/VPN. Re-try in Settings → Local Model. If you don't want a 1.9 GB download, just use Apple Intelligence — it's already on your Mac.

Refunds?

Yes. If Cloak doesn't fit your workflow, email me within 14 days for a no-questions refund.

Do I need all four agent CLIs to use the Agents panel?

No — pick whichever you already use. Cloak detects what's installed on your PATH and disables the rest, with a one-click "copy install command" for anything missing. Claude Code, Codex and Gemini CLI use the same BYOK keys you've already pasted into Settings; Cursor Agent uses its own account login instead.
