Compare the whole listing
Start with the job the app claims to do, then compare the title, subtitle, screenshots, rating count, reviews, update cadence and pricing around it. A competitor is not only an icon and a feature list; it is a promise a customer has already learned to recognise.
Look for repeated complaints
Public reviews are imperfect, but repeated friction is useful. Note where users mention confusing onboarding, missing exports, poor reliability or a feature they expected. These patterns can shape both a product decision and a more honest store-page promise.
Separate evidence from guesses
Public signals can suggest an opportunity; they cannot prove demand or revenue. Dispatch keeps research grounded in visible App Store information and labels estimates as estimates so a promising niche does not become false certainty.
Turn research into the next action
Save the strongest phrases, the clearest competitor differences and the one question that still needs testing. The point of competitor research is a better decision, not a larger archive of screenshots.
