PawKeep is an iPhone app that keeps a health record for each pet: vaccines with due dates, medication with reminders, vet visits, weight, health events and photos of documents. It shows what is overdue, builds a printable report for your vet, and can share a pet's record with family or a sitter through iCloud. Your first pet is free with unlimited records, and there is no account to create.
What a pet health record should hold
| Record | What to keep | When you need it |
|---|---|---|
| Vaccines | Name, date given, next due date | Boarding, daycare, travel, a new vet |
| Medication and prevention | Product, dose, schedule, last given | Every day, and whenever someone else is caring for the pet |
| Vet visits | Date, reason, what was found, what was advised | The next appointment |
| Weight | Dated readings | Dosing questions and spotting gradual change |
| Health events | Vomiting, limping, a seizure, an allergy flare, with dates | Describing a pattern to the vet |
| Documents | Vaccination certificates, lab results, vet letters, insurance | Claims, travel, emergencies |
| Identity | Microchip number, breed, age, your vet's contact | A lost pet or an out-of-hours clinic |
PawKeep has a place for each of these, per pet. It supports dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, horses, reptiles and others.

How it works day to day
- Add your pet. Name, species, breed, birthday, microchip number and your vet's details.
- Enter what you already know. The last vaccines from the certificate, current medication, the most recent visit.
- Let it remind you. Medication and prevention get local notifications. You mark each dose given, snoozed or skipped.
- Glance at what is due. The home screen lists overdue and upcoming care across every pet.
- Add things as they happen. A weight after the vet, a photo of the invoice, a note that she was limping on Tuesday.
The record builds up in a few seconds at a time. After a year you have a history that would be impossible to reconstruct from memory.
Why not a spreadsheet or the Notes app?
Both work for a careful person with one healthy pet. They fall down in three places. Neither reminds you that the worming tablet is due. Neither can hold a photo of the certificate next to the entry it proves. And neither is easy to hand to someone else: a sitter does not want a spreadsheet link, and a vet does not want to scroll your notes. PawKeep's report gathers the vaccines, medication, weights, visits and document photos you choose into one printable or shareable summary.
Sharing with the people who help
With PawKeep Family you can share a pet's record through Apple iCloud with a partner, a relative or a sitter. You choose read-only or read/write access and can revoke it when the arrangement ends. There is no PawKeep account for anyone to create. The family and sitter sharing guide covers how to set it up.
Privacy
PawKeep does not run a server that stores your pet's records. They stay on your iPhone and sync through your own iCloud account if iCloud is on. Nothing is shared unless you share it. The privacy policy has the detail.
Guides for specific jobs
There are separate guides for tracking vaccines, medication reminders and preparing for a vet appointment, plus two free printables: a vet visit prep sheet and a pet-sitter handover sheet.
