Gothic text generator

Old English blackletter you can paste into bios, names and captions. Free, and nothing leaves your device.

How gothic text works

Gothic text, also called Old English or blackletter, uses the Fraktur letters in Unicode: π”Šπ”¬π”±π”₯𝔦𝔠 and the heavier bold Fraktur, π•²π–”π–™π–π–Žπ–ˆ. They are characters rather than a font, so they stay gothic when pasted.

How to use it

  1. Type your text in the box at the top. Until you do, the styles show β€œDark Ages”.
  2. The gothic styles come first. Tap one to copy it; styles marked PRO are part of Fancy Text Pro.
  3. Paste it wherever you like: a bio, a caption, a comment or a message.

Questions

Is this the same as a real blackletter font?

Not quite. Fraktur letters are part of Unicode for writing maths, so their exact shape depends on the device. For printing or a tattoo design, use a real blackletter typeface.

Are numbers gothic too?

No. Unicode has no Fraktur digits, so numbers stay plain.
