EVENTS / PLANNING

Turn a date on the calendar into a calm plan.

Competition dates change, and eligibility rules vary by federation. Use the official organiser’s listing as the source of truth, then work backwards into a plan your coach can adjust.

Where to find reliable dates

Start with your national federation, regional association or the event organiser. Check registration deadlines, age and weight divisions, medical requirements, weigh-in timing and whether bouts are confirmed or only proposed. Save the official page rather than relying on a reposted social graphic.

A four-part backwards plan

1. Confirm

Record the event, division, venue, deadlines and the coach’s go/no-go decision.

2. Build

Use the weeks before the event for technical consistency, controlled rounds and realistic recovery.

3. Sharpen

Reduce novelty. Keep sessions familiar, brief and specific to the athlete’s agreed game plan.

4. Arrive

Plan travel, kit, food, sleep and a simple warm-up. Follow the coach and medical team’s guidance.

Keep practice measurable

A round timer makes pacing repeatable; the Fight Camp Planner turns the date into weekly actions; and the combination generator adds variety without losing the session’s purpose.
