Gridwork template
Meal planner spreadsheet template
Plan the week on the first sheet, then list what to buy on the second. Tick each item as you get it: the shopping sheet adds up the cost with SUMPRODUCT and counts what’s still to buy.
What’s in it
The template opens with example numbers you can type over, on 2 sheets (Meals and Shopping). Here’s the first sheet as it opens:
| A | B | C | D | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Day | Breakfast | Lunch | Dinner |
| 2 | Monday | Porridge | Soup and bread | Pasta with tomatoes |
| 3 | Tuesday | Toast and eggs | Leftover pasta | Chicken stir-fry |
| 4 | Wednesday | Yoghurt and fruit | Wraps | Lentil dal |
| 5 | Thursday | Porridge | Salad | Fish and potatoes |
| 6 | Friday | Toast | Sandwiches | Pizza night |
| 7 | Saturday | Pancakes | Out | Curry |
| 8 | Sunday | Eggs | Roast | Soup |
Tips
- Plan leftovers on purpose: Monday’s dinner can be Tuesday’s lunch.
- Tap a checkbox cell once to select it and again to tick it.
- Duplicate the planner sheet to keep a few favourite weeks you can reuse.
Questions
How does the shopping total work?
SUMPRODUCT multiplies How many by Price on every row and adds the results, so the total follows both columns.
Can I plan more than a week?
Duplicate the Meals sheet for each week, or add rows for a fortnight. The shopping sheet works the same for any list.
Can I open it in Excel or Google Sheets?
Yes: in Gridwork, More then Save as Excel (.xlsx) keeps the formulas. It’s free, with no account, and the file stays on your device until you save it.
