Harbour Darts guide

Darts checkout chart: the route for every finish from 170 to 2

A checkout is the darts you need to finish a leg exactly on a double. The highest is 170 (treble 20, treble 20, bullseye). Every score from 2 to 170 can be finished in three darts or fewer except 169, 168, 166, 165, 163, 162 and 159. The chart below gives a route for each.

How to read it

T is a treble, D a double, Bull the bullseye (50, which counts as a double); a plain number is a single. The routes are the ones Harbour Darts shows when you're on a finish: as few darts as possible, then the doubles players like best (double 20, double 16, double 8), and a route that still leaves a double if a dart lands in the single instead.

The bogey numbers, which can't be finished in three darts: 169, 168, 166, 165, 163, 162, 159.

The big finishes: 170 to 101

Picking a route

Players prefer even numbers on a double, because a single in the double's segment leaves another double: 32 (double 16) can miss into 16, then double 8, then 4, then 2. Double 1 is a last resort. Above 100 the order of trebles matters less than leaving a comfortable double, which is why 100 is usually treble 20, double 20.

Questions

What is the highest checkout in darts?

170: treble 20, treble 20, bullseye.

What are the bogey numbers in darts?

Scores you can't finish in three darts: 169, 168, 166, 165, 163, 162, 159.

What is the best double to leave?

Double 20 (40) and double 16 (32) are the favourites: both can be halved several times if a dart lands in the single.

Can you check out on the bullseye?

Yes. The bullseye counts as double 25, so it finishes 50, and the big finishes 170, 167, 164 and 161 all end on it.
