How to make an event page

An event page answers what, when, where and how to come, on one link you can put in emails, posts and on posters. Website Maker’s Work event template makes one free: the agenda, a map, questions, a registration form that replies to your email, and Add to calendar for Apple, Google and Outlook.

What an event page needs

  • The name, the date and the start time, in the first screen.
  • Who it’s for and why to come, in two or three points.
  • The agenda, with times, so people can plan to arrive late or leave early.
  • Where: the address, a map, step-free access and how to get there.
  • How to come: register, buy a ticket or just turn up, and by when.
  • Add to calendar, so the date isn’t forgotten.

Make it, step by step

  1. Open the Work event template: Home, Agenda and Register.
  2. Change the name, the date and the line in the big welcome, and the three points under it.
  3. On Agenda, change the times and what happens. It’s an Opening hours block, so each row is a time and a line.
  4. On Register, type the email address registrations should go to, and set the most people per reply to 1 if each person should register for themselves.
  5. Check Add to calendar: the date, the start and end, the place and the time zone.
  6. Put the venue’s address in the map, pick a theme and tap Share.

Registration without a form service

The Register page’s form opens the visitor’s own email with their registration ready to send to you: their name, whether they’re coming, food needs and a message. Nothing is stored by Yuzool, so there’s no account to set up and no data to look after on someone else’s server. For a paid event, add a Buttons block with a link to your ticket page instead.

Add to calendar across time zones

For an online event, or one people travel to, the time zone matters. Website Maker sets it from your device and saves the event in UTC, so someone in New York adding a London event at 6pm sees it at 1pm. Google Calendar and Outlook get their own buttons; the calendar file works with Apple Calendar and most other apps.

Share it everywhere

  • A link for emails, newsletters and posts.
  • A QR code for posters, slides and name badges: Share has one to save, and Print an invitation makes an A5 or 5 × 7 inch card with it.
  • Your own address: download the site and drop it on a free host such as Netlify.

With Website Maker Pro, a short link such as yuzool.com/site/makers-meetup stays the same when you change the page, and its visitor stats show views and how many registrations were sent.

Questions

Is it free?

Yes: the template, registration, Add to calendar, sharing, the QR code and the download. Website Maker Pro ($2.99 once) adds more pages, themes and fonts, no Yuzool line and a short link with stats.

Can people register for a whole team?

Yes. Set the most people in one reply, up to ten.

Can I add a video or slides?

Yes: a Video block plays YouTube or Vimeo in the page, and a Buttons block links to your slides.

Does it work on phones?

Yes, both the editor and the page it makes.
