About the level app

This level runs in your phone's browser. There is nothing to download from an app store and no sign-up: open the page, allow motion access if your phone asks, and it works. Add it to your home screen and it opens full screen like any other app.

It does what a good level app does: a round bubble for surfaces, a tube level for edges, readings to a tenth of a degree, a two-step calibration, Set zero and Lock, plus a ruler, protractor, compass and sound meter in the same page.

Computers have no tilt sensor, so on a laptop or desktop the level shows "No tilt sensor here". Open this page on your phone for the level. The ruler and protractor work on a computer right now.

How to use it

  1. Open yuzool.com/bubble-level/level-app on your phone.
  2. iPhone and iPad: tap Allow when Safari asks for motion and orientation access. Android phones usually need no permission.
  3. Lay the phone flat for the bubble, or stand it on an edge for the tube level.
  4. To keep it: in Safari tap Share, then Add to Home Screen; in Chrome open the menu and choose Add to Home screen.

Questions

Do I need to download anything?

No. It runs in Safari, Chrome or any modern phone browser. You can add it to your home screen, but you don't have to.

Why does my iPhone ask for motion access?

Safari asks once before any web page can read the tilt sensor. Tap Allow. If you tapped Don't Allow, close the tab and open the page again, or turn on Motion & Orientation Access in the Safari settings.

Does it work offline?

Once it has loaded, the level keeps working without a connection, because everything runs on your phone.
