City Halo
A missile defence game in the classic arcade style. Warheads streak down towards six glowing cities; tap the sky to set off interceptor bursts that catch them in rings of light. Ammo is limited to ten shots per launch pad, and every wave is faster than the last. Free, no sign-up, and it works on phones, tablets and desktop.
How to play
- Tap or click anywhere in the sky. The nearest launch pad with ammo fires an interceptor to that spot.
- The interceptor bursts into a halo that grows, holds and fades. Any warhead that touches it is destroyed and bursts too, which can set off a chain.
- Lead your shots. Aim where a warhead is going to be, not where it is.
- Watch your ammo. Each pad has 10 interceptors a wave. The centre pad's are the fastest. A pad that is hit can't fire until the next wave.
- Survive the wave. When the last warhead is gone you score a bonus for every interceptor and city left.
Scoring
| What | Points |
|---|---|
| Warhead | 25 × wave multiplier |
| Splitter (before it splits) or fast dart | 50 × multiplier |
| Each interceptor left at the end of a wave | 5 × multiplier |
| Each city still standing | 100 × multiplier |
| Bonus city | Every 10,000 points |
The multiplier goes up by one every two waves, to a maximum of ×6.
Tips
- One burst, many hits. Wait for warheads to bunch up and catch several in one halo.
- Stop splitters early, before they turn into three.
- Save the centre pad for fast or late threats; its interceptors arrive quickest.
- Don't waste shots on warheads heading for ruins. Every unused interceptor is worth points.
Questions
Is City Halo free?
Yes. City Halo is free to play in your browser with no sign-up, no download and no ads.
How do I play on a phone?
Just tap the sky where you want an interceptor to burst. The nearest launch pad that still has ammo fires.
Why did my interceptor miss?
It flies to the spot you tapped, which takes a moment, and the warhead keeps moving. Aim a little below a falling warhead, where it will be when the halo opens.
What are the warheads with rings?
They split into two or three warheads partway down, from wave 3. Catch them high to score double. From wave 5, fast pink darts appear too.
Do I get cities back?
Yes. Every 10,000 points earns a bonus city, rebuilt at the start of the next wave.
Is my high score saved?
Your best score and games played are kept in this browser on this device.
