Prism Smash
A brick breaker in the classic arcade style, with glowing glass bricks, chain-reaction explosions and power-ups. Keep the ball in play with your paddle and smash through eight original walls, each faster than the last. Free, no sign-up, and it plays smoothly on phones, tablets and desktop.
How to play
- Launch the ball with a tap, a click or Space.
- Keep it in play. Bounce it off your paddle. Hitting near an edge sends it out at a sharp angle; the middle sends it straight up.
- Clear the wall. Break every brick except steel to move on to the next level.
- Catch power-ups as they fall. Some bricks drop them at random; diamond bricks always do.
Bricks
| Brick | Hits | Points |
|---|---|---|
| Plain glass | 1 | 10 |
| Framed | 2 | 20 |
| Gem | 3 | 30 |
| Orange core: explodes and breaks its neighbours | 1 | 25 |
| Diamond: always drops a power-up | 1 | 15 |
| Steel | Never breaks | – |
Every brick also scores 5 points per step of your combo, which grows with each brick you break before the ball touches the paddle again. Clearing a wall is worth 500, plus 100 for each ball you still have.
Power-ups
- M, multi-ball: every ball splits into three.
- W, wide paddle: a much wider paddle for 14 seconds.
- L, laser: twin lasers fire automatically for 10 seconds.
- S, slow ball: takes the ball back down to a gentle speed.
- +, extra ball: one more life, up to six.
Tips
- Dig a tunnel up one side. A ball that gets above the wall breaks lots of bricks on its own.
- Aim for orange cores next to tough bricks: the blast clears them in one go.
- Use the edges of the paddle to steer, but don't chase sharp angles when the ball is fast.
- Prioritise the ball over a capsule. A missed power-up costs nothing; a missed ball costs a life.
Questions
Is Prism Smash free?
Yes. Prism Smash is free to play in your browser with no sign-up, no download and no ads.
How do I control the paddle on a phone?
Drag anywhere on the playfield. The paddle follows your finger's movement, so your thumb doesn't have to cover the ball. Tap to launch.
What do the power-ups do?
M splits every ball into three, W widens the paddle for 14 seconds, L fires twin lasers for 10 seconds, S slows the ball down, and + gives you an extra ball.
How many levels are there?
Eight original walls. After the eighth they come round again with tougher bricks and a faster ball.
Does it work with a game controller?
Yes. Use the left stick or d-pad to move, A to launch and Start to pause.
