How to get a proposal signed online, free

To get a proposal signed online, send it as a PDF with a box where the client signs, let them sign it in their browser, and get the signed copy back. With Invoice and PDF Tools that's free and needs no account: Send for signature places your client's boxes on the acceptance page, they sign at yuzool.com/sign, and when you add the signed copy back to the proposal Invoice checks it matches the one you sent before marking it accepted.

Step by step

  1. Write the proposal in Invoice, with your client chosen.
  2. Tap Send for signature. It opens in PDF Tools' Ask others to sign with your client added and their signature, name and date boxes already on the last page.
  3. Sign your own line if you like, then tap Get the file to send.
  4. Send it by email or message. Your client opens yuzool.com/sign, chooses the file, signs and sends it back.
  5. Add the signed copy to the proposal in Invoice. It's checked and marked accepted, and the deposit invoice is one tap away.

How the signed copy is checked

The file you send carries the original proposal and a fingerprint of it. When it comes back, Invoice checks three things: it's the request this proposal sent, the original inside it has the same fingerprint, and every box has been filled. A copy that has been changed, or one from a different request, is refused with a clear message. Each finished copy also gets a Signing record page showing who signed and when.

Nothing is uploaded

The proposal, the request and the signed copy travel as a file between you and your client. Nothing is stored on a server, there's no account and no per-signature fee.

Simple electronic signaturesFor most business agreements a simple electronic signature is fine. Some documents, such as property deeds or wills, need a witnessed or qualified signature: check what applies to yours.

Questions

Can a client sign a proposal without an account?

Yes. They open yuzool.com/sign, choose the PDF you sent, sign in their browser and send it back. It's free and nothing is uploaded.

Is an online signature on a proposal valid?

For most business agreements a simple electronic signature is accepted. Some documents need a witnessed or qualified signature, so check what applies to yours.

How do I know the signed proposal hasn't been changed?

The file carries a fingerprint of the original. Invoice checks the signed copy against the fingerprint of the proposal you sent and refuses a copy that has been changed.

What happens after the proposal is signed?

Invoice marks it accepted and offers the deposit invoice. Each other payment in the schedule can become its own draft invoice, due on its milestone's date.
