Why your files stay private

Most online PDF sites upload your document to their servers, process it there and send it back. That is a problem for contracts, bank statements, medical letters and anything else you would not hand to a stranger.

These tools work differently. The page you are reading includes everything needed to edit PDFs, and it runs on your own computer or phone. Your files are read from your device into this browser tab and the result is saved straight back. You can check: disconnect from the internet after the page loads and the tools still work.

How to merge PDF files

  1. Choose or drop all the PDFs you want to combine.
  2. Pages from each file are marked with a coloured dot so you can tell them apart.
  3. Drag pages into the order you want. Remove any you do not need.
  4. Press Download PDF. The merged file is saved to your downloads.

How to fill and sign a PDF

  1. Open Fill & Sign and choose your PDF. A PDF with a form shows its fields in blue.
  2. Tap a field to type in it, tick its boxes or choose from its lists. No form? Use Text to type anywhere, and Date, ✓ and ✗ for the rest.
  3. Press Sign and draw your signature with a finger, pen or mouse, type your name in a handwriting-style font, or upload a photo of your signature on white paper. Initials work the same way.
  4. Tap the page where it goes, drag it into place and pull the blue corner to resize it.
  5. Press Download signed PDF. Your signature can be saved on this device, so next time it's one tap.

A signature added here is a simple electronic signature. That suits many everyday forms, permission slips, leases and agreements, but some documents need a certified or qualified electronic signature, a witness or a wet-ink signature. If you're not sure, ask whoever sent you the document. This is not legal advice.

How to turn photos into a PDF

Add JPG or PNG images, such as photos of receipts, forms or handwritten notes. Each image becomes one page. Choose Fit page to image to keep each page the size of the photo, or A4 or US Letter for a document that prints neatly. iPhone photos in HEIC format need converting to JPG first; on an iPhone, sharing a photo to Files usually saves it as JPG.

About compression

PDF size usually comes from images. Compression here redraws every page as a JPEG at a lower resolution, which can shrink scanned documents and photo-heavy PDFs a great deal. It has trade-offs: text becomes part of an image, so it can no longer be selected, searched or read by screen readers, and links stop working. For a PDF that is mostly text, compression may make the file larger; if that happens, the tool says so and does not download it.

Questions

Is there a file size or page limit?

No fixed limit. Very large files depend on your device's memory, and a phone will handle less than a laptop. If a large file struggles, split it first.

Can it open password-protected PDFs?

No. Remove the password in the app that created the PDF, or the app you normally open it with, then add it here.

Does it keep links, bookmarks and form fields?

Merging, reordering, rotating, splitting and extracting copy whole pages, so their content and most links are kept. Document bookmarks (the outline) and some interactive form features may not carry over. Compression removes them. Fill & Sign keeps a form's fields fillable unless you choose Flatten.

Is my signature uploaded or stored anywhere?

No. Your signature is drawn and placed in this browser tab. If you choose to save it for next time, it is kept in this browser on this device only, and you can delete it from the signature sheet.

Can I sign a PDF that has no form fields?

Yes. Fill & Sign works on any PDF, and on photos and scans too: put your signature, text, the date and ticks anywhere on the page.

Is it free?

Yes. No account, no watermark and no daily limit, and that includes filling in and signing PDFs. Yuzool Plus adds a few extras to Fill & Sign: several saved signatures, flattening forms and signing many pages or copies at once.
