How to Keep Pet Health Records Ready for Boarding and Daycare
A practical way to keep vaccination dates, medications, vet details and emergency notes ready before your dog or cat stays at boarding or daycare.

Boarding check-in is easier when the important information is ready before you arrive. Vaccination dates, medication instructions, your vet’s details and an emergency contact often live in different places: an email attachment, a paper folder, a photo library and a portal you have not opened for months.
Make one current record
Start with the information a boarding or daycare team is most likely to request: your pet’s name, species, birthday or age, current vaccinations, allergies, medications, feeding instructions, vet contact and emergency contact. Keep the record factual and current. It is not a replacement for the facility’s forms or your veterinarian’s advice.
Before a stay, check the expiry dates rather than assuming last year’s paperwork is still valid. If medication has changed, update the instructions and include the dose exactly as prescribed.
Keep the record available offline
Travel days are a poor time to search through old messages. A private phone record means you can find the information even when reception is unreliable or the facility’s portal is difficult to access. Keep the original documents as well when the boarding team requires official copies.
Pawkeep is designed for this small job: keeping pet health records, medication notes, vet details and care information together on iPhone. See Pawkeep or open it on the App Store.
Prepare a handoff note
Add the practical details a sitter or boarding team needs to act on: feeding times, food location, medication routine, temperament notes and who can make decisions in an emergency. Keep it short enough to scan. A clear handoff is more useful than a complete biography.
Do one final review the day before departure. Confirm the dates, bring any required originals and tell the facility about changes rather than relying on an old record.
