How to Prepare Private Pet Health Records for Boarding and Sitters

Leaving a pet with a boarding facility or sitter is easier when the important information is ready before the handover. The useful record is not a huge biography. It is a clear set of current details: vaccination documents, medications, vet contacts, feeding notes and what to do if something changes.

Check what the provider needs

Boarding facilities and daycares may ask for different records. Ask early whether they need vaccination dates, a certificate, medication instructions, emergency contacts or proof of insurance. Requirements vary by location and provider, so do not rely on an old checklist.

Keep medication instructions exact

Copy the instructions from your veterinarian or prescription label rather than rewriting them from memory. Include the medication name, instructions, timing and storage details.
