Checked as you type, on this device. It isn't saved and is cleared when you leave.

    Five rules for strong passwords

    1. Length beats tricks.Four or more random words, or 16+ random characters. Swapping a for @ adds almost nothing.
    2. One password per site.Reuse is how one leak opens every account.
    3. Let a password manager remember them.Your phone or browser has one built in.
    4. Turn on two-step sign-in.Use a passkey or an authenticator app where you can.
    5. Skip names, dates and patterns.Birthdays, pets, teams and qwerty are tried first.

    What it does

Six digits give a million combinations, a hundred times more than four. With the easy ones left out (123456, repeats, years and dates) there are 914,771 left, each equally likely.

Most phones ask for six digits by default, and many banking apps and two-step sign-in codes use six too. As with any PIN, it is safe because the device limits wrong tries.

    How to use it

    1. A 6-digit PIN is ready at the top.
    2. Tap the arrows for another until you have one you can remember.
    3. Tap Copy, or just learn it.

Passwords are made on this device and are never saved, sent or kept in a history. Only your settings are remembered.

    Questions

How many 6-digit PINs are there?

A million, from 000000 to 999999. Leaving out the easy ones leaves 914,771.

Is a 6-digit PIN better than 4 digits?

Yes: a hundred times as many combinations, so a few lucky guesses are far less likely to work.
