Free crochet drawstring bag pattern

A little round-bottomed bag in single crochet spirals, with a row of eyelets for a chain drawstring: for dice, keys, stitch markers or a present. It’s a beginner pattern of about 3 hours, and it teaches magic ring, working in a spiral, back loop only. Follow it below, or open it in Stitchbay to count it row by row.

You’ll need

  • 70 m (77 yd) of medium weight yarn (Worsted), cotton or acrylic. Including the drawstring.
  • a 4.5 mm (US 7) hook
  • Stitch marker, Tapestry needle
  • Gauge: 16 stitches and 18 rows to 10 cm (4 in) in sc in the round

Size: About 11 cm across and 14 cm tall.

Before you start

Work in a spiral: don't join the rounds. Put a marker in the first stitch of each round and move it up as you go.

The round worked in the back loops only makes a crisp edge where the base turns up into the sides.
